QR Code Generator - Custom Colors & Logos
Generate custom Quick Response (QR) codes in your browser with fine-tuned design controls, error correction tiers, and vector SVG exports. Powered by the qrcode JavaScript library and HTML5 Canvas, our generator encodes URLs, Wi-Fi credentials, vCard contact cards, email messages, phone numbers, and arbitrary alphanumeric payloads directly in client memory. You can adjust module resolution up to 1000 pixels, configure quiet zone margins, set foreground and background color palettes, enable alpha transparency, or embed center logo images. All encoding mathematics run locally on your device without transmitting URLs or Wi-Fi passwords to external servers. The tool does not store scan data in analytics databases, does not shorten URLs with expiring tracking redirects, and does not require account registration.
How to use
-
Step 1: Select Data Type and Enter Content
Choose between Website URL, Wi-Fi Network, vCard Contact, Email, Phone, or Plain Text tabs, and fill in the corresponding information fields.
-
Step 2: Customize Styling and Error Correction
Adjust QR size slider up to 1000px, pick foreground and background colors, configure quiet zone margin, select your error recovery level, or upload a brand logo.
-
Step 3: Export as PNG or Scalable SVG
Download your finished QR code as a high-resolution PNG image for digital assets or a vector SVG file for high-resolution commercial printing, or copy directly to your clipboard.
Worked example
Input: https://toolverve.com — standard website address at 400x400 resolution and Level M error correction
Output: Generated 400x400 QR code for https://toolverve.com with Level M error correction, producing a 5,943 byte raster PNG and a 1,238 byte scalable vector SVG
Example; results depend on your input.
Tips & limits
- Always test your generated QR code with both iOS and Android camera apps before sending marketing materials to commercial print shops.
- Maintain strong color contrast between foreground modules and the background surface; dark modules on light backgrounds deliver the most reliable scanning speeds.
- When embedding center logos, avoid covering more than 20% of the total barcode area so Reed-Solomon error correction can recover hidden data blocks.
- For physical signage and vehicle wraps, download the vector SVG export so your graphics team can scale the graphic without pixelation.
Common problems
- Smartphone camera scanner fails to recognize the QR code
Ensure there is adequate contrast between foreground and background colors. Inverted color schemes (light code on dark background) often fail on older mobile scanner algorithms.
- QR code with an uploaded logo refuses to scan
The uploaded logo might be too large and obscuring critical timing patterns or finder modules. Ensure error recovery is set to Level H and use a compact icon.
- Wi-Fi QR code does not automatically connect the mobile device
Check that the SSID name matches your wireless network router exactly, including uppercase and lowercase letters, and verify whether your network uses WPA or open security.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Do QR codes generated here expire after a certain period?
No. These are static QR codes. The destination data, website link, or Wi-Fi password is baked directly into the black and white optical matrix. Because there is no intermediary redirect server, the code functions indefinitely as long as your destination URL remains active.
What is the difference between a static QR code and a dynamic QR code?
A static QR code stores the final destination payload directly in the graphic pattern and cannot be modified after printing. A dynamic QR code points to an intermediary redirect service that can change destinations later but will stop functioning if the hosting company shuts down.
Why is the vector SVG export recommended for professional print jobs?
SVG stores mathematical line and rectangle vectors rather than fixed bitmap pixels. This allows graphic designers to scale the barcode to any physical dimension—from a small business card to a highway billboard—without blurriness or compression noise.
Are my sensitive Wi-Fi passwords or personal contact details uploaded to any cloud server?
No. All barcode generation logic executes entirely inside your client browser thread using local JavaScript and HTML5 Canvas. Zero credentials or contact cards are ever transmitted to any external server.
How does the Reed-Solomon error correction tier work?
Reed-Solomon error correction inserts redundant mathematical parity blocks into the code. This enables barcode scanners to reconstruct missing or obscured data if parts of the physical printed code become scratched, smudged, or covered by a center brand logo.
What is the maximum amount of information a QR code can store?
Under ISO/IEC 18004 standards, a Version 40 QR code can store up to 7,089 numeric characters, 4,296 alphanumeric characters, or 2,953 binary bytes. However, shorter payloads produce simpler grid patterns that scan much faster on mobile devices.
